A Fantastic Femur of a Female Woolly Mammoth
Weight: 12000 gr / 26.4 lbs
Length: 96 cm / 37.7 in
Width: 28 cm / 11 in
Height: 23 cm / 9 in
Item Code: 2720
Latin Name: Mammuthus primigenius
Age: Approximately 40.000 years old
The femur was located in the upper rear legs of the animal and are comparable to the bone in the upper legs of humans. There are among the biggest and most impressive bones of the mammoth as they had to carry a large part of the animal's gigantic weight. The present item is very rare indeed and must have belonged to a female animal, and was part of the left leg. Professionally repaired from the original pieces, but otherwise in good condition, as seen in the images. Overall well preserved, especially for a piece of this rarity. The black and white section of the ruler in the image represents 10 cm / 3.9 inch. Very impressive fossil and highly recommended for serious collectors.
