Irish elk was one of the most impressive creatures to inhabit the North Sea area. Its amazing antlers could grow to enormous sizes and are among the most sought after and expensive fossils. On offer is a large portion of the cranium of this animal. The cranium is not complete (as they rarely are), but is in good condition, with many details of anatomy beautifully preserved, and still includes the two partial anter bases. No restoration whatsoever. The black-and-white section of the ruler in the image represents 10 cm / 3.9 inch.
